Dr. Michelle Habell-Pallan is appointed the new Director of the Certificate in Public Scholarship. Michelle, is Associate Professor of Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies and Co-Director of the Women Who Rock Project. She has participated in the Certificate in Public Scholarship as a portfolio advisor and as a steering committee member (2012-2015). In the nomination process, the steering committee agreed that Michelle’s leadership would invigorate the Certificate’s critical focus on issues of diversity, equity, and public scholarship.
Directors of the Certificate in Public Scholarship serve three-year, renewable terms. They chair the Certificate’s steering committee, responsible for overseeing the certificate’s curriculum and guiding its policies.
This is an important transition for the Certificate, which launched in 2010. The Certificate’s ongoing sustainability and development needs regular infusions of new leadership, and CPS is excited for the new energy, ideas, and connections that Michelle brings to her role.
This Fall the Certificate is sponsoring a conference and a micro-seminar on Gender, Justice, and Prison Reform. This Spring, CPS will be admitting fellows for Fall 2017.
