Join us for a dialogue and artistic demonstration that will explore historical and present-day local and trans-local cultural productions of afroindigenismo. This conversation––focused on music and dance, will examine interactions and collaborations among indigenous, African, and Afro-Indigenous populations in Mexico, Honduras, Peru, and Colombia and among immigrant communities in the U.S.
Discussion and performances facilitated by Monica Rojas (LACS & MAS), Iris Viveros (GWSS & Seattle Fandango Project), Yoelin Connor (GarinaguHoungua), Hagucha Garinagu, Diego Coy (Colombian musician), and visiting artist from Peru Miguel Ballumbrosio.
