Syllabus Description (from Canvas):

Black Queer Sexualities describes the historical formation and embodied experience of black queerness, and examines racialized sexuality as object of analysis that has transformed over time within and across Black, Feminist, and Queer Studies. We work through multiple genres of knowledge production to do this: highly theoretical journal articles by black feminist philosophers, recent social sciences dissertations that provide models for your own thinking and writing, complete books that think holistically about the work of academic scholarship, collections of creative writing that form an invaluable archive of black queer life, film and web series that converse with traditional academic theorizing.
