Catalog Description:
Explores queer and transgender studies as complex fields emerging from scholarship, activism, and public discourse. Analyzes genders and sexualities and examines the impact of power and identity on states, kinship, financial systems, and medicine. Positions global queer and trans solidarity as incorporating movements for poor people, workers' power, and sovereignty. Assesses scholarly materials alongside film, media, art, and autobiography. Recommended: GWSS 274 or GWSS 374.
