Submitted by Catherine Richardson on

In Spring 2021 GWSS 390 ART, MUSIC,& FEMINIST RESILIENCE IN THE BORDERLANDS student teams produced five new episodes of "The Ofrenda Podcast." Produced in partnership with KRVU 105.5 FM radio and Highline Heritage Museum's series "Our Voices: Social Justice in Times of Covid-19."  KVRU radio will broadcast the episodes throughout summer. GWSS students learned how to both create interview content and technical digital audio production skills! GWSS own PhD almna Grammy winning professor Martha Gonzalez provided podcast theme music.

Of special interest are podcasts featuring interviews with GWSS PhD student Iris Viveros on "Resilient Rhythms," GWSS Ph.D. alumna professor Monica De La Torre on "Community Radio and Media Justice in relation to Immigration during the COVID Pandemic”, GWSS minor alumna Jovita Mercado on The Power of Art: Healing and Resilience with Jovita Mercado" and supporters like Grammy Award winning Quetzal Flores on "Decolonial Organizing & De-Gentrification through Housing Mutual Aid", as well as scholars and hip hop feministas from Ecuador.
