The Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies is delighted to announce that Marielle Marcaida, a PhD student in the GWSS department, and Jamelah Jacob, a PhD student in the History department, have been approved for support from the Simpson Center's Executive Board for their joint Graduate Research Cluster (GRC) on "Transnational Filipinx Diaspora Studies." The GRC has been awarded a total of $1000 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Simpson Center, recognizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, has chosen to fund twelve proposals in this category, including Marcaida and Jacob's Transnational Filipinx Diaspora Studies GRC. Graduate Research Clusters, formerly known as Graduate Interest Groups, facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge among graduate students through activities such as cross-departmental reading, screening, and discussion groups, as well as dissertation working groups. A complete list of GRCs receiving funding for the 2023-24 academic year can be found here.
