Monica De La Torre, Ph.D. Alum, to Present at Second Annual Henry R. Fenbert Challenging History Lecture

Monica De La Torre, who earned her Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies in 2016, will be the featured speaker at the second annual Henry R. Fenbert Challenging History Lecture. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Washington State History Museum.

De La Torre, an assistant professor at Arizona State University, will discuss her book, Feminista Frequencies: Community Building through Radio in the Yakima Valley. The book explores the emergence of Chicano community radio in rural farmworker communities during the 1970s, with a focus on Radio KDNA in the Yakima Valley.
