GWSS congratulates PhD student Yasmine Gomez, who has been selected for the Peter T. Johnson Fund for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, which supports UW students conducting research or presenting work related to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Yasmine will use the award to travel to Bogotá, Colombia to present at the Plurifeminismos Symposia and Writing Retreat and to continue her research on transnational feminist coalition-building. As she shared:

“I am honored and thankful to be supported by the Peter T. Johnson Fund! … I plan to travel to Bogotá, Colombia to attend and present my ongoing research at the Plurifeminismos Symposia and Writing Retreat… and continue my research on Transnational Feminist coalition building by conducting interviews with Indigenous Feminist scholars from Ecuador, Guatemala, and Colombia. Further, I will present my research on Indigenous and Feminist resistance on the Texas-Mexico borderlands against global capitalism to a panel of Indigenous Feminist scholars where I can further build my work in community.”

Congratulations, Yasmine!
