GWSS is pleased to congratulate Dr. Saad Khan on the successful defense of his dissertation, "Nascent Moves: Loss, Desire, and In/visible LGBTQ Resistances in Bangladesh."
Drawing on ethnographic and archival research, Khan's dissertation examines queer life, resistance, desire, and community in Bangladesh. The committee praised the originality, insight, and significance of the project, with committee member Priti Ramamurthy describing it as a “marvelous meditation on queerness as lived experience and critique, queer joy and creativity, and their possibilities and impossibilities in Bangladesh.”
The defense drew an enthusiastic audience of friends, family, colleagues, and community members, reflecting the impact of Khan's scholarship and the support surrounding his work.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Khan on this outstanding achievement.
