Scholarships, Awards and Financial Aid

Students can find a number of financial aid opportunities through the Student Financial Aid Office. With the Husky Promise, the UW guarantees to cover the full cost of tuition and standard fees for qualified students who otherwise could not afford to attend.

Herring Phelps Scholarly Activism Award Honors GWSS majors demonstrating commitment to feminist values and/or contemporary feminist scholarship through community-based activism.  Undergrad $600 GWSS faculty, staff, students, and self-nominations
Herring Phelps Outstanding GWSS Senior Award Recognizes a GWSS senior for excellence or distinction in feminist scholarship, co-curricular activities, peer support, or service to the department.  Undergrad $600 GWSS faculty, staff, students, and self-nominations
Pamela E. Yee Gender and Disability Studies Award Given in honor of Pam Yee, eldest child of Donald and Audrey Yee and sister of Shirley, David, and Steven Yee, this award honors exceptional work by an undergraduate and graduate student in the GWSS program, demonstrating successful integration of gender and disability studies in a written and/or visual project completed within the past 18 months. Undergrad & Grad $250 GWSS faculty, staff, students, and self-nominations
Marie Doman Excellence in Teaching Award Recognizes a GWSS graduate student whose teaching reflects the highest standard of feminist pedagogy. Grad $500 GWSS faculty members only

Note: All awards listed above will be presented at GWSS’s annual graduation ceremony with the exception of the Marie Doman Excellence in Teaching Award, which will be presented at GWSS's annual fall reception.
