On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, the Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies celebrated the start of a new academic year with the return of its annual Fall Reception. Faculty, staff, students, and friends of the department gathered in The Simpson Center and caught up after two years of cancelled and socially distanced events. Along with reconnecting, the event gave everyone in the department the opportunity to formally welcome our newest graduate students (Marielle Marcaida, 2022-23; Ramon Johnson 2021-22; Anna Zhao, 2021-22), present our Marie Doman Excellence in Teaching Award (Christina Yuen Zi Chung & Mediha Sorma, recipients), and recognize our Alumni Award recipient (Harriet Dumba, '04).
