GWSS Ph.D. candidate, Christina Yuen Zi Chung, was recently awarded the 2022-23 Joseph and Yetta Blau Award for Excellence in Research. Award winners are selected by the Simpson Center Executive Board, and members were "exceedingly impressed" with Christina's dissertation "At the Seam's of the World: Gender and Decoloniality in Hong Kong Contemporary Art."
Established by Herbert Blau in 2008 in honor of his parents, the Blau Award supports graduate student scholarship. Blau was a UW English Professor, a Lockwood Professor in the Humanities, and an influential American theatre director.
