Effective August 2023, alma khasawnih has been promoted to an Associate Professor, a faculty position in the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department at TCNJ.

khasawnih's manuscript project, Urgent Ephemera as Site of Revolutionary Collectivity, focuses on urgent ephemera–graffiti, murals, posters, and other visual culture production–that are produced during moments of political, social, and cultural revolution and unrest. Through transnational feminist imaginaries and grounded in her own Far West Asian Arab immigrant experiences, alma argues this urgent ephemera helps us learn and envision alternative revolutionary futures and sites of collective identity-building outside of the constructs of the nation-state.

As alma takes on her new role in WGSS, she also begins her role as Director of The Greater Philadelphia Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Consortium. Through and beyond the institution, alma continues to deepen her scholarly and activist commitments to imagining different presents and futures, particularly those that bring together human and non-human animals and other living beings. By spending time among and in awe of birds (she is organizing a birding event as part of WGSS' 50 year anniversary at TCNJ!) and plants she tends to at home and in her neighborhood community garden, alma contemplates the wonders of being alive through connections to her mother, migratory animals, and plant seeds.
