The University of Washington's Population Health Initiative has announced the recipients of its Tier 1 pilot grants, and we are thrilled to congratulate our very own Chair and Professor, Sasha Su-Ling Welland, on being part of this esteemed group!
Welland, along with her collaborator Holly M. Barker from the Department of Anthropology, received funding for their project, "Building Reparative Connections and Community Health Strategies Across Sites Impacted by Nuclear Weapons Development." This innovative research aims to address the environmental and health impacts of nuclearism on frontline communities, fostering collaborative connections and strategies among affected sites.
The Population Health Initiative's Tier 1 granting supports interdisciplinary research, and this project embodies that spirit, bringing together community health organizations from Hanford, St. Louis, and the Republic of Marshall Islands to share knowledge and approaches.

Congratulations, Sasha!
