GWSS alum Marley Blonsky '08 released her first children's book, The Ragtag Best Friends Bicycle Club this week. The book follows Maisie, her sister, and friends as they adventure on their bikes. “Maisie is about to learn that even if she can't ride fast, that's okay. In fact, riding her own way is her super power, and she's bringing everyone along for the ride.” Her book, released to wide praise, celebrates all bodies, all rides, and the power of joy.
You can get a copy of from Strong Girl Publishing, which “makes athletically-oriented books + content for middle grade and young adult girls, written by young women athletes.”
Blonsky is a long-time leader in the inclusive cycling world through her work with All Bodies on Bikes, an organization she co-founded and for which she currently serves as Executive Director. The organization states, “We are working to change the bike industry. We believe that anyone who wants to ride a bike should be able to, regardless of their size or weight. We are creating inclusive bike communities from the inside. As this community grows, we’re focused on keeping the members at the center of our efforts.”
In honor of her longstanding advocacy in the cycling world, Blonsky was recently awarded The Susie Stephens Award for Joyful Enthusiasm from the League of American Bicyclists.
Many congrats to Blonsky on the book release and the much-deserved award!
