KEY GRADUATION DATES
May 1 - 19: Registration is open for apparel, commencement tickets, and parking permits and GWSS's Graduation Survey is open.
May 28 - June 1: Pick up your orders at the University Book Store during regular business hours.
June 5 @ HUB Lyceum: GWSS Graduation Celebration (doors open at 4:30, ceremony at 5:00, reception to follow).
June 8 @ Husky Stadium: UW Commencement Ceremony (doors open at 12:30, ceremony at 1:30).
TICKETS
The GWSS Graduation Celebration is not a ticketed event. Completing GWSS’s graduation survey indicates your intent to participate on June 5.
If you'd like to attend the UW Commencement Ceremony on June 8, you must register separately during the open registration period.
APPAREL
GWSS does not require students (B.A., M.A., or Ph.D.) to wear commencement attire at graduation, although many students choose to do so. If you would like to wear commencement apparel, please make sure to order yours during the open registration period.
PHD STUDENTS
Please make sure to confirm with the faculty member(s) who will be hooding you that they plan to attend the ceremony. You can familiarize yourself with the hooding process in advance by watching this video from the University of Indiana or by reviewing this PDF. We also kindly ask that doctoral students limit their remarks to a duration of 2-3 minutes.
GUESTS
We do not anticipate needing to restrict the number of guests a graduating student may bring. However, for planning purposes, please indicate the approximate number of guests you plan to bring on the graduation survey.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Please make sure to specify accommodation requests for yourself and any of your guests who may need them on the graduation survey. Accommodations cannot be guaranteed without advanced notice.
PARKING
Padelford Parking Garage is the nearest parking lot to the HUB (Lots N16, N18, N20, N21). If you or your guests will need on-campus parking for the event, you must purchase parking permits during the open registration period. Gatehouses will not issue permits during finals week. The order form will allow you to purchase parking permits even if you are not attending Commencement or purchasing graduation apparel.
The N22 parking lot near the HUB's north entrance has 27 ADA-Compliant parking stalls. It is situated off East Stevens Way NE, between Pend Oreille Road Northeast and the HUB loading dock. Additionally, there's the C17 lot south of the HUB at Kirsten Wind Tunnel & Aeronautical Laboratory, which also offers ADA-Compliant and load/unload stalls. Please note: vehicles parked in disability parking spaces on the UW campus must display an official disability placard or plate AND must also purchase a valid UW parking permit.
